“What are the compostable bags made of? They take longer than paper to decompose, so need to be composted separately from veg scraps and paper. I love them – I shred them and work them in with leaves. You should promote your eco-effort in this and offer composting tips (other than gym bags), especially to compensate for the eco-sin of single cups. It might be a good way to reach more people and to distinguish your company even more from the other do-gooder bean companies. ”

— DOUG ALBERTSON – A DEAN’S BEANS CUSTOMER

“[Plastic bags] take at least 1,000 years to break down, and even then, they don’t biodegrade; rather, they fragment into smaller and smaller pieces, making them more likely to be eaten by marine and land animals.”

— DAVID SUZUKI, THE DAVID SUZUKI FOUNDATION

“We’re proud to be able to state that all of our coffees are now roasted and packed in BIODEGRADABLE air-tight heat-sealed paper bags with degasing valves from our friends at Tek Pak Solutions. A brand-new product on the market, these are, as far as we know, the first biodegradable coffee bag of its kind.”

— NICHOLAS CHO, WRECKING BALL COFFEE

“We are fired up about the new custom-printed bags knowing that everywhere you can buy our coffee – it’s like being greeted in a whole new way by a familiar friend. The big leap with this improvement is reducing waste while providing more substance. The new labeling delivers a better picture of the coffee inside the bag, and the biodegradable bag material both protects the freshness and the future. It’s a deeply satisfying improvement for us and our conscientious customers.”
